From the Summer of 2000 through the winter I opened and then with a group of others occupied a small home on Boerum St in East Williamsburg. Before moving into the building we made sure to introduce ourselves to the neighbors, that way we didn't have to try and be sneaky and unseen. Through the winter we used a wood burning stove that was recovered from the basement of 7th St Squat, to stay warm. After a number of run-ins with a self proclaimed property owner we decided to leave the house since we would not have any legal standing that we could demonstrate should the police be called. Still I have warm memories of the house and my housemates. I did learn from the experience.
